Online course guide
Scheduled for Summer 2008 at Lake Superior College
One Section of ECON 1160 Principles of Economics: Microeconomics. One Section of ECON 1150 Principles of Economics: Macroeconomics Please use the links in the menu to the left to navigate for class information. Both economics classes are part of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum. If you plan on taking both classes, try to take Econ 1160 Microeconomics first and follow the next semester with Econ 1150 Macroeconomics. This seems to work out best. Some students just take the 1150 class and that works out fine. Some students do take both classes in the same semester and do ok, but this is not recommended as it can be a lot of work. I have a lot of experience with the new online format. This is proving to be very exciting and capable system. My classes have extensive online help in the form of online sample tests, powerpoint slides, chapter outlines and chapter lectures in the form of mp3 voice files. Economics 1150 and 1160 use the following textbook: Economics, Sixth Edition David C. Colander, Middlebury College ISBN 0-07-297883-X
NOTE: This text may be sold in a package as ISBN 0-07-322297-6 although we do not use the Discover CD. (Fifth edition will still work, it is just not the official textbook) Author Colander Publisher McGraw Hill / Irwin. The textbook it will work for both Econ 1160 and Econ 1150.
